Here's a list of things a dad can do with his wife and kid(s) in and around Greater Glasgow and beyond.
In the Night Garden Live, across the UK
This is a great day out for young children. We attended the show at Queen's Park in Glasgow. From the parking to the show to the exit door everything is run smoothly. Okay, so the tickets are a tad expensive but honestly, as soon as the music started and the characters burst on to the stage, and the kids screamed with delight I knew it was money well spent. At no point did we feel like we were queuing long or feel uncomfortable. The toilets were clean, had toddler seats, cleaning equipment and even heated. The show started bang on time and ran for a full 50 minutes, which was more than enough time for energetic children. If I had one complaint, it would be the prices of the merchandise, which you can hardly not purchase. So go prepared with a full wallet. It was only a small complaint however, as the happiness my daughter got from the whole experience was much greater.
The tour has now finished and will be back in 2016. You can keep updated here.
Calderglen Country Park, East Kilbride
First on my list - my home town's country park. It's got adventure trails, wildlife to spot, a kid's petting zoo, gardens and even a golf course. And it's also home to East Kilbride FC!
East Kilbride Central Library
Yeah, I know - rock on daddy! But I love the library, always have done, always will do. Where I ask you, is better for a young sponge-like mind than being among literary classics, books of learning and old reference manuals!?
Di Maggio's, East Kilbride
Although prices have gone up in the past year or two, we still enjoy a wee meal at Di Maggio's. The staff are always really friendly and the restaurant manager makes sure guests are being treated well. It is a very family orientated place so ideal for a quick meal with the kids.
Rouken Glen, Giffnock
One of my favourite parks to visit; Rouken Glen has a bit of everything. A beautifully maintained park, a fantastic play park for children of all ages, work out machines, a skate park, a duck pond, pavilion and a wildlife trail all offer a great day out. There is also a nice garden centre and cafe to visit if the weather isn't up to much.
